Thomas is a member of Newton’s specialist research team. In his current role, Thomas is responsible for sourcing and executing investment opportunities in private companies on behalf of our investors as well as contributing private markets insights to the company’s fundamental equity research team.

Thomas joined Newton in September 2021, following the integration of Mellon Investments Corporation’s equity and multi-asset capabilities into the Newton Investment Management Group. Before joining Newton, Thomas was as a research analyst at Mellon Investments Corporation and The Boston Company Asset Management (both BNY Mellon group companies).
Prior to joining BNY Mellon, Thomas was a senior associate at the Watermill Group, a private equity firm specializing in acquisitions of manufacturing and distribution companies in special situations. Earlier in his career, Thomas held a number of accounting, operational, research, trading and management positions at The Blackstone Group, including interim chief financial officer and chief operating officer of the firm’s distressed securities hedge fund.
Thomas has a BS from Fordham University, where he graduated summa cum laude, and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He received his CFA* designation in 2009 and is a member of the CFA Institute.
