Richard is a member of the Newton’s fixed income team, covering sovereign rates and currencies and leading the firm's geopolitical analysis and strategy efforts. Richard joined Newton in September 2021, following the integration of Mellon Investments Corporation’s equity and multi-asset capabilities into the Newton Investment Management Group.

Before joining Newton, Richard was a senior research analyst at Mellon Investments Corporation and The Boston Company Asset Management (both BNY Mellon group companies), where he covered the energy and materials sectors and co-managed the firm’s $1 billion Global Natural Resources fund.
Before joining BNY Mellon, Richard was a senior equity analyst at Santander Asset Management in London, covering the energy and mining sectors. Previously, he was a global equity analyst for Sarasin & Partners’ equity funds and, before that, a junior portfolio manager at JPMorgan Asset Management.
Richard holds a BSc in International Business from Warwick Business School, University of Warwick, an MSc in Economic History from the London School of Economics and an ALM in International Relations from Harvard University, where he majored in National Security. He received his CFA1 in 2008 and is a member of the CFA Institute and CFA Society Singapore.
Richard has extensive international experience and has lived and worked in Europe, the United States and Asia.
